       The easiest way to get to SUBASE New London is from Interstate 95.  From I-95, take the Route 12 exit (exit 86).  Keep right at the fork in the ramp and merge onto US-1 S.  You will go through two or three sets of lights, and on the left, you will see the very large sign for SUBASE Groton/New London.  Take a left at this point.  Follow this road until you come the USS Nautilus (SSN-571) Museum.  At the museum, take a right and this will be the SUBASE main gate.  At the main gate, you will have to pull into the small parking lot and go into the building.  Inside you will tell the person on duty who you are and that you are with the Sea Cadet Sub School.  The pass office will have a list of attendees so they will be expecting everyone.  They will need to give you a temporary vehicle pass to get on the base.

            Once you get through the main gate, immediately stay to the right, then follow the road straight.  Shortly after the brick buildings you will pass on the left, there will be a road to the right; turn right onto this road.  You will pass baseball fields on the right, the Base Exchange (NEX) and a gas station on the left.  Continue on this road.  After the NEX, the road will turn back to the left.  Continue going on this road.  You will come to a 4-way stop in front of the base mess hall.  Continue going straight, and at the top of the hill on the left, is Building 488.  This is the barracks where we will be staying.  We will be conducting the check-in process in the quarterdeck area of the building.
